1. STRINGS Teaching Artist (BEGINNER CLASS)

Position: Beginning/Intermediate Strings Lead Instructor

Location: Henry for Music

Description: HENRY FOR MUSIC, INC. ANNOUNCES AN OPENING FOR BEGINNING STRINGS TEACHING ARTIST
(Fairview Recreation Center - Site) Starting March 2020


Responsibilities:
• Choose and determine repertoire for HFM concerts, in collaboration with the orchestra manager
• Lead rehearsals of the HFM Beginner Strings
• Conduct HFM Beginner Strings at HFM concerts
• Set up and take down class materials
• Collaborate with other HFM Teaching Artists on site
• Attend peer exchange and professional development workshops
• Attend meetings with senior HFM staff as needed
• Execute additional administrative tasks as necessary
Ideal candidate will possess:
• Advanced playing skills as a string player
• Passion for music as a vehicle for positive social change
• Minimum Bachelor of Music degree – music education preferred
• Ability to inspire, work with and mentor elementary and/or middle school youth
• Desire to work with disadvantaged, urban/rural communities
• Excellent leadership ability, inter-personal skills and comfort working in a team
• Ability to adapt, be flexible and have a sense of humor


Notes: Pay rate is $35 per hour for 2-4 hours per week. Rehearsals will be scheduled Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays between 4:00pm and 7:00pm. Background check required. Rehearsals located at Fairview Recreation Center located at 35 Austin Rd. Stockbridge, GA 30281. We will also be holding 3 to 4 Summer Session Rehearsals during June and July 2020 for our current students.  We plan to provide our Summer at Fairview Recreation Center during dates and times arranged based on The Teaching Artist’s Schedule.
